# AI Person Photo Tagging

> **In one line**: Product photos showing a photorealistic AI-generated person must carry Amazon's disclosure tag. Import a batch, tag in one click, export, and relist — without a single byte leaving your computer.

## Why this matters

Starting **July 2026**, under New York State's Synthetic Performer Disclosure Act and related FTC guidance, Amazon requires that any **main image, gallery photo, or A+ content** showing a photorealistic AI-generated person — including AI models or bystanders in the background — carry a disclosure tag inside the image file.

Without it, the listing risks a policy notice or suppression, with fines of **up to $5,000 per violation** that add up quickly across a multi-SKU catalog.

## Where the tag lives

The tag is written into the image's **metadata** — technically the `dc:subject` field of its XMP data, with the keyword `contains-synthetic-performer`.

- Invisible to shoppers: no on-image text, no watermark
- Amazon's systems read it and automatically show an "includes AI-generated person" indicator
- Every pixel stays byte-identical — no re-compression, and the file keeps its original format

!!! info "Which photos do *not* need tagging"
Photos that only feature real people (even if AI-edited), characters from movies / TV / games, photos with no people at all, or clearly non-photorealistic figures.

## Steps

1. Open [https://www.niceggie.com/en/tools/ai-photo-tagging](https://www.niceggie.com/en/tools/ai-photo-tagging)
2. Click **Import photos** and choose or drag in the product photos that contain AI-generated people (whole folders are supported)
3. Review the staged previews and click **Import**
4. Select the photos you want to process in the list
5. Click **Verify & tag** — the tag is written and verified locally
6. Click **Export tagged** to download the batch, then relist

## Status labels

| Label | Meaning |
|-------|---------|
| Pending | Imported, not yet processed |
| Tagged | Disclosure tag written and verified |
| Skipped | The photo already carried the tag, so it was verified and not rewritten |
| Exception | Non-JPEG file, failed to load, or failed verification after writing — with the reason shown |

## Limits and privacy

- **Batch size**: up to **20 images** per batch as a guest, **200** once signed in — the import dialog shows "N more allowed" in real time
- **Formats**: JPG / JPEG only for now
- **Local only**: everything runs in your own browser; no photos are uploaded and no Amazon account connection is required
- **Leaving clears everything**: close the page and the working set is gone

## FAQ

??? question "Will tagging blur the image or change how it looks?"
No. The tag is written only into the image's metadata — hidden text inside the file. Every pixel stays byte-identical, with no re-compression and no watermark, and the exported file keeps its original format.

??? question "Do I need to understand \"metadata\" or \"XMP\" to use this?"
No. Import → select → **Verify & tag** → export. The technical terms are only there for the curious.

??? question "Are my photos uploaded to your servers?"
No. Everything runs in your own browser — not a single byte leaves your computer, and no Amazon account connection is needed. Close the page and everything is cleared.

??? question "What does \"Tagged · Skipped\" mean?"
The photo already carried the disclosure tag before import, so the tool verified it and skipped rewriting. It still exports normally, and re-importing or re-exporting it causes no errors.

??? question "Which photos get flagged as an exception?"
Non-JPEG files (only JPG / JPEG is supported right now), files that fail to load, and files that fail verification after writing. Exceptions don't affect the rest of the batch — filter by **Exception** to review them together.
