What happened?
Amazon Shipping announced its 2026 peak-season demand surcharge schedule. Merchants using Amazon Shipping will pay the following per-package fees in three periods: $0.50 from October 25 to November 21, 2026; $0.75 from November 22 to December 26, 2026; and $0.50 from December 27, 2026, to January 16, 2027. These charges are added to sellers’ existing contracted rates and will take effect automatically on the corresponding dates. In addition to the base demand surcharge, packages meeting additional-handling, oversize, or overweight criteria may incur higher fees. Examples on the page show additional-handling fees of up to $11.90, oversize fees of up to $117.50, and overweight-package fees of up to $590. The change applies to sellers using Amazon Shipping, MCF, or Amazon Logistics for orders from their own websites, Walmart, eBay, and other channels. It is particularly relevant to sellers of large items such as furniture, fitness equipment, appliances, and auto parts. Amazon also said it will not charge additional residential or weekend delivery surcharges during the peak season, while seven-day delivery, end-to-end tracking, and some delivery-notification services will remain unchanged.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
From October 25, 2026, through January 16, 2027, sellers using Amazon Shipping, MCF, or Amazon Logistics for multichannel fulfillment must pay a peak-season demand surcharge of $0.50 to $0.75 per package, while existing contracted rates remain unchanged. Large items such as furniture, fitness equipment, appliances, and auto parts may also incur additional-handling, oversize, or overweight fees; no additional residential or weekend delivery surcharges will apply during the peak season.
