What happened?
TikTok Shop Seller University updated the Q4 Seller LIVE Auction Referral Fee Reduction Policy on October 8, 2026. The policy targets TikTok Shop U.S. auction sellers and runs from October 1 through December 31, 2026. Eligible Seller LIVE Auction orders can receive reduced referral fee rates. New auction sellers using a $1 starting bid can settle eligible orders at a 4% referral fee; for high-value auction orders meeting specified category and price thresholds, some existing sellers can qualify for a 3% rate. Eligible categories include jewelry, electronics, collectibles, accessories, handbags, and footwear. Coverage is relatively broader for cross-border sellers, but they must still meet requirements relating to store type, Seller Performance Score, product category, starting bid, and other qualifications. Each seller has a weekly eligible GMV cap of $400,000 for the promotional rate. Regular LIVE orders and non-auction orders are not covered by the policy. Sellers must also verify the final rate displayed in the seller backend and cannot apply the advertised rate directly to all live transactions.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
Eligible TikTok Shop U.S. live auction orders may receive lower referral fees from October 1 through December 31, 2026; new auction sellers using a $1 starting bid may qualify for a minimum 4% rate. Sellers should not apply 4% or 3% to all orders and should verify profitability against store type, category, price thresholds, Seller Performance Score, and the final backend rate.
What should sellers do now?
- 1Check the store type, Seller Performance Score, eligible categories such as jewelry, starting bid, and backend fee rate for each TikTok Shop U.S. auction store, and create a list of eligible and ineligible Listings.Profit calculator
- 2Calculate profitability for eligible Seller LIVE Auction products at both 4% and 3% referral fee rates, distinguish new sellers from eligible existing sellers, and produce a promotional pricing and gross-margin comparison table.
- 3Track eligible auction GMV weekly from October 1 through December 31, 2026, exclude regular LIVE and non-auction orders separately, and establish a weekly monitoring table that stays within the $400,000 cap.
