- 5Category commission reduction starts after the new-seller commission promotion ends
What happened?
TikTok Shop seller centers in Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, and Italy updated their commission guidance on September 16. The sales commission for standard products is 9% of the total order product amount, including applicable taxes. Eligible categories such as electronics, beauty, and personal care may qualify for an effective commission rate of 7%, but the discount does not apply automatically to all products. Sellers must select the correct product category. If the platform reclassifies a product because of incorrect categorization, the product will no longer qualify for the lower commission. For stores operating across multiple categories, only eligible products are charged at 7%; all other products remain subject to the 9% rate. If a new seller is receiving a temporary new-seller commission promotion, the category commission reduction will take effect only after that promotion ends. The change mainly affects cross-border sellers selling to the five European countries, with electronics, appliances, beauty, and personal care categories facing the most direct impact.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
Stores selling to Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, and Italy will be charged 9% on the total order product amount, including applicable taxes, for standard products. Eligible electronics, beauty, and personal care products may be charged 7%. Incorrect categorization or multi-category operations may leave some products subject to 9%; new sellers must also wait until their temporary promotion ends before the category reduction takes effect.
