What happened?
According to an Amazon announcement, from March 20, 2026, the platform will recalculate the Digital Services Fee for certain cross-border sales on the France, Italy, and Spain stores based on the digital services tax level in the country where the sale occurs. When the seller is registered in the UK and sells through the France, Italy, or Spain stores, Selling on Amazon fees and FBA fees will be subject to a 3% Digital Services Fee. Sellers registered in Italy or Spain may also be subject to the 3% rate when selling through the UK and France stores. For sellers registered in other countries, selling fees for sales to France, Italy, and Spain will be subject to 3%, and FBA fees for sales to France will also be subject to 3%. The fee is not 3% of the product price; it is a percentage added to Amazon selling fees and eligible FBA fees. Amazon recommends that sellers check the fees in the Revenue Calculator and distinguish among registration country, selling store, and fulfillment method.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
From March 20, 2026, certain cross-border sales on the France, Italy, and Spain stores will incur a recalculated 3% Digital Services Fee, added to selling fees and eligible FBA fees. Sellers must check actual costs by registration country, selling store, and fulfillment method; margins may narrow further for products with high commissions or heavy FBA reliance.
