Amazon to Change Sponsored Ads Billing Method From August

What are the key facts?
- 1Sponsored Ads will default to deductions from seller account balances for some sellers
- 2Eligible sellers can receive a $2,500 monthly click credit for five consecutive months
- 3Credit batches cover the ends of July through November 2026
- 4Specific eligibility is shown in Ads Console
What happened?
Amazon recently displayed information in Seller Central about changes to Sponsored Ads billing. Starting August 1, 2026, the default payment method for Sponsored Ads charges for some sellers will change to deductions from their available seller account balance. To support the transition, Amazon will provide eligible sellers with a $2,500 Sponsored Ads click credit per month for five consecutive months. The displayed credit batches include July 31, August 31, September 30, October 31, and November 30, 2026. The credit arrangement does not automatically apply to all sellers; eligibility and display information should be checked on the Billing and Promotions pages in Ads Console. For brand sellers and agencies with high advertising spend, the change involves cash flow, advertising budgets, and account balance management. Sellers also need to confirm whether the credit will automatically reduce the monthly bill and check the expiration date for each credit.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
Starting August 1, 2026, some sellers will have Sponsored Ads charges deducted by default from their available seller account balance, requiring adjustments to advertising budgets and cash-flow planning. Eligible sellers should also verify whether the five consecutive monthly click credits have been applied, automatically reduced the bill, and their specific expiration dates.
