What happened?
According to an eBay developer announcement, the platform will display a Commercial Guarantee of Durability label on eligible listings from commercial sellers offered to EU consumers starting September 27, 2026, in line with EU Directive 2024/825 and Implementing Regulation 2025/1960. To support the change, eBay will add a “Durability Guarantee” field in affected product categories and plans to return the field through the Taxonomy API around September 24. The Trading API and Inventory API will also begin accepting the relevant data in stages.
Sellers who want the label to appear on product pages must provide at least the durability-guarantee duration, brand name, and model identifier. The field is optional, but the label will appear only when the information is complete and a qualifying manufacturer or seller guarantee actually exists. The main sellers affected are commercial sellers of appliances, electronics, tools, furniture, and other durable goods, particularly cross-border sellers operating through ERP, API, or bulk-listing systems. If systems are not updated in time, product pages may not display the new compliance label. Falsely entering a guarantee duration may lead to consumer complaints, returns, and compliance risks.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
Commercial sellers offering appliances, electronics, tools, furniture, and other durable goods to EU consumers need to monitor the new Durability Guarantee field; otherwise, product pages may not display the Commercial Guarantee of Durability label. Sellers using ERP, API, or bulk-listing systems should also verify that the guarantee duration, brand name, and model identifier are complete and accurate to avoid complaints, returns, and compliance risks.

- 2This week, verify the manufacturer or seller guarantee documentation for EU durable goods item by item. Enter the guarantee duration, brand name, and model identifier only for listings with an actual guarantee; produce a missing-information list and prohibit false durations.Listing Optimizer
- 3This week, extract samples from affected categories in the bulk-listing system, verify that the Durability Guarantee field can be written and read back, and submit a test report covering field completeness, label-display status, and exception listings.
