What happened?
TikTok Shop updated its TikTok Shipping guidance on October 20, confirming surcharges for certain non-compliant packages. The rule applies from October 5, 2026, to U.S. sellers using TikTok Shipping Standard Delivery and Collection by TikTok (CBT). Packages with a longest side exceeding 48 inches or a volume exceeding 10,368 cubic inches will incur a $10.15 surcharge per package; packages with a longest side exceeding 96 inches or a volume exceeding 17,280 cubic inches will incur a $79.99 surcharge per package. Packages with an actual weight exceeding 50 pounds will incur an additional $10.15, while those exceeding 100 pounds will incur an additional $79.99. The rule primarily affects sellers of furniture, fitness equipment, outdoor products, auto parts, and large home goods, as well as cross-border merchants using overseas or U.S. local warehouses.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
TikTok Shipping is adding surcharges for oversized, over-volume, or overweight packages, which may significantly increase per-unit fulfillment costs for large products. Sellers of furniture, fitness equipment, outdoor products, auto parts, and large home goods should recheck packaging data and compare the costs of split shipments, FBT, and other logistics services.
