What happened?
In its US marketplace fee adjustment notice, Amazon outlined changes to referral fees and Fulfillment by Amazon fees for 2026. The notice said US marketplace FBA fulfillment fees will be adjusted slightly, increasing by approximately $0.08 per item on average, while the overall fee increase will remain below 0.5%.
The adjustment affects fulfillment costs incurred by US marketplace sellers using FBA. Amazon also said the basic structures of referral fees and FBA fees will remain generally stable. Sellers will continue to calculate applicable fees under the existing rules for product category, selling price, and logistics service.
The fee notice is intended to help US marketplace sellers calculate operating costs for the new year. Actual charges for specific products will continue to depend on product category, size and weight, fulfillment method, and other applicable conditions. Sellers can check the corresponding fee items using the rate information published in Seller Central.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
The per-unit increase may appear modest, but it can compound for low-priced, high-turnover products, so profitability cannot be assessed by sales growth alone. A common mistake is continuing to use old gross-margin tables while overlooking changes in the combined impact of storage, fulfillment, and referral fees. Highest priority: update per-unit costs and minimum acceptable prices for key US marketplace products this week.
