What happened?
According to Supply Chain Dive, Amazon is expanding Seller Assistant so it can handle global supply chain tasks. The upgrade covers inbound planning, aging inventory and inventory-location visibility. The relevant functions are currently available to sellers in the U.S., Europe and Japan, and Amazon plans to expand them to more countries by the end of 2026. In the future, the system will show sellers where inventory is located, identify stock that may be slow-moving or at risk of storage fees, and proactively remind sellers to replenish, transfer, remove or optimize inventory. The change will have a greater impact on sellers using FBA, AWD, Remote Fulfillment or multiple country marketplaces at the same time, with apparel, home goods, seasonal products and low-turnover SKUs requiring particular attention. Sellers will need to recalculate safety-stock levels, replenishment lead times and cross-region inventory configurations accordingly. However, AI-generated recommendations will not automatically change inventory; whether to act will still depend on seller authorization and account settings.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
Seller Assistant now adds inbound planning, aging-inventory and inventory-location visibility. Sellers using FBA, AWD, Remote Fulfillment or multiple country marketplaces should recalculate safety stock, replenishment lead times and cross-region configurations. AI only provides reminders for replenishment, transfers, removals or optimization; it will not automatically change inventory, so sellers must act based on their authorization and account settings.
What should sellers do now?
- 1Compile inventory locations, turnover performance and aging risk for FBA, AWD and Remote Fulfillment SKUs in the U.S., Europe and Japan marketplaces. Classify apparel, home goods, seasonal products and low-turnover SKUs, and produce an inventory review sheet.Procurement List
- 2Review each replenishment, transfer, removal and inventory-optimization recommendation from Seller Assistant. Confirm authorization settings against safety stock, replenishment lead times and cross-region configurations, and create an execution-or-defer list.
