What are the key facts?
- 1Canvas is available in Seller Central for US and UK marketplace sellers
- 2No additional fee
- 3Combines sales, inventory, advertising and business goals
- 4Supports natural-language scenario testing
What happened?
Amazon announced the launch of Canvas, a visual workspace in Seller Central that is currently available to sellers on the US and UK marketplaces at no additional cost. The tool brings sales data, inventory status, advertising performance and business goals together in one interface. Sellers can use natural language to test different business scenarios, including lower demand, reduced initial purchase quantities, delayed replenishment and discounts on slow-moving inventory. The system shows estimated effects on revenue, cash flow, stockout risk, storage fees and competitive position under each scenario. Amazon also said that nearly 90% of sellers accept recommendations from Seller Assistant. The sellers most affected are small and midsize businesses using FBA, holding high-value inventory and needing to balance replenishment with cash flow. Canvas is currently available in the US and UK and will later expand to more countries and languages beyond English.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
Small and midsize sellers using FBA and holding high-value inventory in the US and UK can compare the effects on revenue, cash flow, stockout risk and storage fees before changing replenishment, initial purchasing or slow-moving inventory plans. Canvas can turn experience-based inventory decisions into scenario comparisons, but availability is currently limited to the US and UK marketplaces.
What should sellers do now?
- 1Log in to Seller Central for the US and UK marketplaces, test a 10% demand decline, delayed replenishment and slow-moving inventory discount scenarios for high-value FBA listings, export the comparisons for revenue, cash flow, stockout risk and storage fees, and create a one-page decision table.Procurement List
- 2Review initial purchasing plans for the US and UK marketplaces based on Canvas forecasts, prioritize listings with high inventory, low turnover or weak advertising performance, update purchase quantities, replenishment timing and risk notes, and retain before-and-after lists.
- 3For slow-moving inventory intended for markdowns, check cost, storage fees, estimated revenue and cash-flow effects for each item in the US and UK marketplaces, create an actionable list of discounted listings, and note items not being treated and the reasons.Profit calculator
