What happened?
On October 9, TikTok Shop US Seller Academy added a seller guide on “Combining Orders for Shipping” and updated the content “Save Shipping Costs and Encourage Repeat Purchases by Combining Orders.” The feature is intended for sellers handling multiple orders from the same buyer and aims to combine eligible orders for shipment, reducing duplicate packages, packaging materials, and some shipping costs. Sellers of low-priced products, multi-item purchases, replenishment products, accessories, and products ordered consecutively during livestreams should pay particular attention. However, combining orders does not mean sellers may modify orders freely or bypass platform logistics rules. Sellers must still confirm that orders meet the combination criteria, that shipping labels are correct, that products can be shipped within the promised timeframe, and that tracking information, refunds, returns, and platform liability determinations are not affected after combination. The platform content recommends testing with a small number of orders first, checking shipping fees, warehouse picking, and customer service workflows before expanding use.
What does this mean for cross-border sellers?
Combined-order shipping is suitable for multiple orders from the same buyer and can reduce duplicate packages, packaging materials, and some shipping costs. Low-priced products, multi-item purchases, and consecutive livestream orders are especially worth testing. Sellers cannot use it to bypass logistics rules and must verify combination criteria, labels, promised timelines, tracking, refunds, and return liability.
